WHAT IS GLOBAL BRIGADES?

Global Brigades is the world’s largest student-led global health and sustainable development organization.  As a secular, international nonprofit organization, we mobilize student volunteers and professionals to empower communities in developing countries with programs that improve quality of life and environment, while respecting local culture. Students and professionals empower communities in Nicaragua, Honduras, Panama and Ghana through nine different programs: medical, dental, public health, business, architecture, environmental, human rights, micro-finance, and water.

    Our Mission

To empower volunteers to facilitate sustainable solutions in under resourced communities.

    OUR Vision

To improve equality of life, by igniting the largest student-led social responsibility movement on the planet.

    OUR Values

Empowerment, holistic approach, sustainability, scalability, financial transparency, collaboration.

    UNLIKE OTHER POVERTY EFFORTS:

    HOLLISTIC APPROACH:

We have focused our programs on key health and economic factors that dramatically boost the well-being of communities when implemented together

    FULL-TIME LOCAL TEAMS:

Skilled local team members work year round to execute programs alongside communities

    COMMUNITY LED SUSTAINABILITY:

All programs establish local community committees to ensure future funding and maintenance for long term sustainability

    GOVERNMENT COLLABORATION:

Collaboration with local governments is crucial to the sustainability of our programs

    FUNDED THROUGH STUDENT MOVEMENT:

Our admin and programs are fully-funded through our student volunteer movement, so each extra dollar directly supports the programs

Take the time to give to those who are in need, and along the way you will meet some of the most amazing people. The trip to Nicaragua was an experience that will stay with me for a lifetime, one I will never forget. The feeling of helping people who are so hopeless couldn’t be more rewarding... I would go every year if given the chance, to live like Christ and give to others. Serve the people of the world, for they are in desperate need.
